Origin
Kasoori Methi or dried Fenugreek leaves are from a herb of the pea family cultivated worldwide as a semi-arid crop. It is believed to have originated from Europe and West Asia and is now largely cultivated in India and Mediterranean countries. It was also used for Mummification by ancient Egyptians and to cure infections and heal wounds by ancient Greeks.
Flavour Profile
It has a pungent smell but not quite as strong as fenugreek seed. It has a savoury flavour and a subtle bitter aftertaste.
Cooking Uses
It is mostly used for flavouring and seasoning various dishes like potato-based dishes, various curries, and the Indian bread, naan.
